It stands at 273m and offers a view over the horizon of South China Sea. </p><p> </p><h4 style="line-height: 18.85pt; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.55pt 0cm;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>TRANSPORTATION</strong></span></h4><p>It is not known if there are any public transportation services to the vicinity of the area. Getting to the trailhead is best done by car. Gunung Arong is in-between Mersing (17km away) and Endau (22km away).</p><p>The summit of Gunung Arong is located at approx GPS coordinates 2°33'41.7"N 103°48'25.8"E (<a href="https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/2%C2%B033'41.7%22N+103%C2%B048'25.8%22E/@2.5615833,103.8071667,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0" target="_blank">googlemaps</a>) and the trailhead <u>is believe</u> to be located at approximate GPS coordinates 2.573796, 103.803869 (<a href="https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/2%C2%B034'25.7%22N+103%C2%B048'13.9%22E/@2.573796,103.803869,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0" target="_blank">googlemaps</a>).</p><p>You should be able to see a small shop selling snacks "in the middle of nowhere" which serve as the registration counter prior to entering the trail. After passing the shop, you will need to take a short walk and eventually reaching the trailhead where you hike into the forest. </p><p> </p><h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>TRAIL</strong></span></h4><p>The trail is fairly straightforward, relatively well marked and takes approximately an hour to reach the peak. The peak stands at 273 meters and is marked by a concert shelter overlooking the view of Tanjung Resang and the South China Sea. You can do a transverse by hiking down from the other side of Gunung Arong which will lead you to a sandy beach. </p><p> </p><h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>COST</strong></span></h4><p style="line-height: 18.85pt; margin: 0cm 0cm 8.55pt 0cm;">There are reports of hikers being stopped at the registration counters and asked to pay an entrance fee before proceeding.
