SUMMARY
Bukit Chenuang is located at Sungai Congkak, Hulu Langat, Selangor, Penisular Malaysia. It is a lesser known, and less actively climbed mountian than it’s neighbouring mountian, Gunung Nuang.
TRANSPORTATION
The trailhead of Bukit Chenuang is inside Congkak Eco Resort. Exit the E7 Cheras Kajang Expressway when you see the sign for Pekan Hulu Langat. Take route B52 heading north and turn left at Kampung Padang, GPS 3.196171, 101.856047 (maps). Drive in for another 2.4km and park outside the resort gate at GPS: 3.209923, 101.843209 (maps).
Rapid transport bus U412 service the route on Jalan Ulu Langat (road B52). Board the bus at TM Batu 10, Lebuhraya Cheras Kajang (GPS: 3.059556, 101.773574) and alight at Kampung Padang. (GPS: 3.196171, 101.856047). Walk in the remainding 2.4km to reach Congkak Eco Resort.
TRAIL
To get to the actual trail head, walk into the eco resort and follow till the end of the tar road, Tapak Perkhemahan Zon 6, about 1.9km away from the entrance. The trail to climb Bukit Chenuang is on your left, about 10 meters in front of the toilet (the trail entrance is partially hidden by overgrowth). Do not take the trail behind the toilet (trail goes up steeply) or cross the river (lead to a private durian farm).
After getting on the right trail (you should see some red-white tape markers along the way), you will first cross a few stream, and subsequently the climb begins. As the trail is less actively climbed, the terrian is very rugged. The trail is mainly narrow, with branches, bamboos and obstacle blocking the trail. You will need to crawl under fallen bamboo trees, avoid leeches and keep away from sharp thorns. The hike becomes harder as you go higher. Steep slope are to be expected. The summit, at 850 meters tall is marked by a Beirut. The summit has no view as it is covered by trees. The hike will take approximately 2.5 hours up and 1.5 hours down.
