SUMMARY

Pine Tree Trail is a hike located in Peninsula Malaysia, Pahang state, Fraser Hill. The peak of the trail stands at 1456 meters, which presents a view of the Titiwangsa range.

 

TRANSPORTATION

To get to the trailhead, you will first need to reach Fraser Hill. There are no public transportation directly to Fraser Hill. Hence, private transportation needs to be arranged.

Taxi can be arranged from Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) – the nearest town from Fraser Hill. KKB is connected to other cities by KTM trains or roads. KKB is 39km from Fraser Hill via Route 55. The going rate for a taxi is estimated to be RM80 one way between KKB and Fraser Hill. Taxi from KL can also be arranged.  It is estimated to cost around RM200 for a one-way transfer.

For drivers, the GPS coordinates to the trailhead are 3.712077N, 101.728494E (googlemaps). Physically, the trailhead is located beside TM Resorts. Follow the signboard for directions towards TM Resorts will lead you to the trailhead. The road will get narrower as you get closer.

Parking can be a problem as there are no public parking nearby. Park cautiously along the narrow road and avoid obstructing the traffic.

Do note there are no petrol station on Fraser Hill. Ensure you have sufficient petrol before driving up Fraser Hill as the nearest petrol station is back in KKB town.  

 

TRAIL

The trails starts at a height of 1329 meters and summits at 1456 meters. Do not be deceived by the apparent net elevation of only 127 meters as the hiking distance is approx 5.5km from the trailhead to the peak with lots of up and down slopes.

It takes approximately 3 hours to hike to the peak. From the peak, you can hike further to the twin peak which will take approx another hour. The trail is well mark with “kilometers markers” detailing how far you are away from the trailhead.

The trail is mainly on soil within the forest. After the 5km marker, you will need to climb up a steep slope (rope section) with rocks. After clearing the rope section, the peak is just around the corner. Take note of a slight left to see the view of Titiwangsa range.

COST

A permit is required to be obtain from Pahang Forestry Department. Permit application has to be sent by post with the permit fees payable in the form of Money Order or Bank Draft. They will reply by post to inform if the application is successful.
