<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">SUMMARY</span></h3>
<p>Endau Rompin is the second largest national park in Peninsular Malaysia with an area overlapping Pahang and Johor state. <!–more–>It is located at the south of Pahang and northeast of Johor. Endau Rompin covers an approximate area of 870km square. </p>
<p>Due to the park’s size, there are three entrances to get into Endau Rompin each offering different facilities and adventures. The three entrances are:<br />
– North East Entrance: Kuala Kinchin via Kuala Rompin (Pahang)<br />
– East Entrance: Kumpung Peta via Kahang (Johor)<br />
– West Entrance: Selai via Bekok (Johor)</p>
<p>For simplicity, this guide is dedicated to the West Entrance which brings you to Endau Rompin (Selai).</p>
<p>Among the three entrances, Endau Rompin Selai is known to be better and better maintained. All facilities can be booked through the Taman Negara Johor Endau Rompin (Selai) office (we will call it the Bekok Park Office for easy reference) which details are provided under our <a href="#contact">Contacts</a> section. </p>

<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">TRANSPORTATION</span></h3>
<p>The nearest town from Endau Rompin Selai is Bekok, located about 42 km north east from Yong Peng. From Bekok, a 4WD is needed to get into Endau Rompin Selai due to poor road conditions.</p>
<p>It is mandatory to visit the Bekok park office to handle registration, payment, admin matters and switch to the 4WD vehicle before heading to Endau Rompin Selai. The Bekok park office is located at No. 8 Jalan Satria 1 (GPS: 2.298228, 103.135408) (<a href="https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/2%C2%B017’53.6%22N+103%C2%B008’07.5%22E/@2.298228,103.1332193,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d2.298228!4d103.135408" target="_blank">maps</a>) in Bekok town.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">By Car</span><br />
To get to the Bekok park office by road, exit Yong Peng from the North South Highway. Turn left towards Yong Peng and continue staying on route 1 heading north. You will passby Yong Ping town and subsequently another town called Chaah. After passing Chaah, travel for another 3km and lookout for signboard turning right towards "Bekok" or "Taman Negara Johor Endau Rompin (Selai)". Turn right towards Jalan Bekok at GPS: 2.280640, 103.038776 (<a href="https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/2%C2%B016’50.3%22N+103%C2%B002’19.6%22E/@2.28064,103.0365873,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d2.28064!4d103.038776" target="_blank">maps</a>) and continue going east for 10.5km. You will see signboards giving you direction to the park office. Turn left at GPS: 2.296914, 103.131449 (<a href="https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/2%C2%B017’48.9%22N+103%C2%B007’53.2%22E/@2.296914,103.1292603,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d2.296914!4d103.131449" target="_blank">maps</a>) and continue going straight for about 300 meters passing by Bomba on your left. The Bekok park office will be on your left (among a row of shophouse).</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">By Public Transport</span><br />
Bekok is a small town and there is no public bus or coach services here. Hence, the only practical public transportation option is by KTM trains. Timing of the trains, availability and purchases can be done online at <a href="https://intranet.ktmb.com.my/e-ticket/login.aspx" target="_blank">KTMB E-Ticket website</a>.</p>
<p>KTM trains to Bekok from south are direct and does not requires a transfer (e.g from JB Sentral to Bekok). However, if you are coming from the North, (e.g KL or Ipoh), stating 19 May 2016, the North South KTMB is serviced solely by the high speed ETS (electric train service) and the last station for this service ends at Gemas station. At Germas, a train transfer is required. In other words, you will not be able to find a train ticket from KL to Bekok direct, instead, you need to purchase two separate tickets, a KL to Gemas ticket on the ETS and a Gemas to Bekok ticket on the regular KTM.</p>
<p>From Bekok train station, the park office is 750 meters away. The road in front of Bekok train station is Jalan Station, turn towards Jalan Gunung and continue walking straight passing by the Bomba on your left. As it is likely that you will need to book a 4WD to transport yourself to Endau Rompin Selai, you can ask politely a favour during the booking if it is possible for the 4WD driver to pick you up at the train station to fetch you to the Bekok park office.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">4WD Arrangement</span><br />
4WD transportation services can be arranged directly with Bekok park office and the standard arrangement will have the 4WD depart from Bekok park office. The transport cost RM270 for a round trip (Bekok – Selai – Bekok) with each 4WD taking a maximum of 5 passengers. For a more comfortable ride, 4 passengers will be ideal. The journey takes about 1 hour, passing through uneven dirt road and 5 aborigines villages.</p>

<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">CAMP</span></h3>
<p>The 4WD ride ends at the Endau Rompin Selai visitor centre which is also where the office, accommodation and facilities are. The campsite is a short walk away.</p>
<p>If you are planning to stay overnight at Endau Rompin Selai, there are quite a few options and facilities available.</p>
<p>1. Campsite: Area big enough to fit 200 person at a time. Common bathrooms, cooking and dining area. Bring your own tent. (RM3 – RM10 per person)</p>
<p>2. Jungle Huts: Basic huts with a sleeping platform, two large mattresses, 3 pillows, lights and a wall fan. Common bathroom, cooking and dining area. Each hut can accommodate 3 person. (RM 80 per hut per night)</p>
<p>3. Dormitory: Double decker bunk beds, lockers and fan, lights. Common bathroom and cooking area. (RM10 – RM30 per person per night)</p>
<p>4. Standard Chalet: Two single bed, attached bathroom, fan. Each standard chalet can accommodate 2 person. Common cooking and dining area. (RM120 per chalet per night)</p>
<p>5. Family Chalet: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, kitchenette. light, fan, lots of power sockets. Accommodate 4 person. Common cooking and dining area. (RM200 per chalet per night)</p>

<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">TRAIL</span></h3>
<p>Guides are required for all hiking activities. 1 guide can take a maximum of 10 hikers. The booking of guide can be arranged with Bekok park office.</p>
<p>There are a total of four waterfalls for exploration. They are namely, Takah Tinggi¹, Takah Tempaang², Takah Pandan³ and Tekah Berangin. Leeches are plentiful while hiking in Endau Rompin so do some leech prevention measure.</p>
<p id="takahtinggi"><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Takah Tinggi</span><br />
From the Endau Rompin Selai office where you meet your guide, Takah Tinggi¹ is a two hour, 4km hike away. The terrain is mostly on the jungle trail, going up and down, passing by a hanging bridge⁴ (about 1km), river bank⁵ (2.2km), and areas which are steep and slippery⁶. These tricky areas has rope setup to provide additional handhold. Your guide will be able to advise on the dangers and provide assistance.</p>
<p>Takah Tinggi¹ is a big, beautiful waterfall with a large pool. It is tempting to go for a dip into the refreshing water, but unfortunately, swimming is not allowed due to the strong currents.</p>

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Takah Tempaang</span><br />
Tekah Tempaang² is a waterfall, 400 meters away, on a side trek from the main hiking route between Endau Rompin Selai and Takah Tinggi. Coming from Endau Rompin Selai, the side trek starts at about 2.3km in, making the hiking distance between Endau Rompin Selai and Takah Tempaang about 2.35km. The 400 meter side trek consist mainly walking by the river⁷.</p>
<p>Takah Tempaang² is a much smaller waterfall and has a small pool which you can swim in. Due to the angle of the waterfall, a bystander who does not wants to go into the water can only see the side view of the waterfall. This makes it difficult to appreciate the waterfall.</p>

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Takah Pandan</span><br />
Takah Pandan³ is about 1.2 km away from Endau Rompin Selai and takes approximately 45 mins to 1 hours to reach. Starting at the same point for trekking towards Takah Tinggi, the trail divert left at about 0.9km in passing by a small waterfall Takah Selow⁸. After Takah Selow⁸, the trek becomes a steep ascent⁹ for the next 200 meters before descending to Takah Pandan³.</p>
<p>Takah Pandan³ is a tall and beautiful waterfall with a small pool to swim in. Takah Pandan³ is unique as it is tall and vertical making the waterfalls look like a natural wall.</p>

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Takah Berangin</span><br />
Takah Berangin is the toughest and least explored waterfall in Endau Rompin. It follows the trail towards Takah Pandan, and requires a hike for another hour up a very steep slope. The waterfall is beautiful as it is tall, wide with a big pool to swim in.</p>
